Vicky Kileen

Occupational Therapist

Vicky is a dual‑skilled Specialist Occupational Therapist working across adult and children’s services, with a strong track record supporting individuals with complex mental health, sensory, and learning disability needs. With nearly a decade of varied clinical experience, she blends deep empathy with evidence‑based practice to deliver person‑centred interventions that creates meaningful, lasting change.

She has extensive experience supporting autistic individuals, people with ADHD, sensory processing differences, learning disabilities, and co‑occurring mental health conditions. As Lead Learning Disabilities OT within her Health Board for over five years, she developed and delivered specialist provision for children and adults with highly complex needs.

In education settings, Vicky applies her specialist OT skills to support neurodivergent children with a wide range of sensory and functional challenges. She produces clear, detailed reports to inform EHCP applications and guide inclusive practice. Her work within foster care highlights her ability to support children and families navigating trauma, attachment needs, and behavioural challenges.

Her clinical practice spans family homes, schools, supported living, foster placements, mental health wards, and forensic rehabilitation. She adapts her approach to meet individuals where they feel safest, collaborating closely with families, educators, and care teams. Her work integrates trauma‑informed care, neurodiversity‑affirming practice, functional skill development, and interactive, play‑based techniques.

A confident Level 3 Sensory Integration Practitioner, Vicky is trained to use standardised assessment tools to produce detailed reports and tailored recommendations. Alongside clinical work, she designs and delivers bespoke training and engages in ongoing research to strengthen her expertise in learning disabilities and neurodivergence.

What’s your favourite time of year and why?

Christmas is my favourite time of year, the time period where Family come together and enjoy each other’s company.

What is the best part of your job?

I get to sit with people in the moments where life feels hardest and help make sense of what’s really going on. One of the most meaningful parts of my job is translating a person’s needs into something others can truly understand, so the world around them can finally start working with them. It’s a privilege to be invited into families’ lives, to earn their trust, and to witness the relief that comes when someone says, “This explains everything.” Those moments change everything; they open doors, shift perspectives, and give people space to breathe again.

What makes you happy?

My dogs, family, crime programmes, Traitors or shamefully trash TV like Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Below Deck.

What are your Hobbies and Interests?

Musicals, Baking and swimming.
