Meet the Team
Jayne has over 20 years’ experience of working within the Speech and Language Therapy profession. She currently works with a range of adults and children to assess and support communication and eating and drinking difficulties. Her experience includes those who have learning disability, autism, brain injury and those who have sadly experienced developmental trauma.
She loves working with those who have behaviours that may challenge (Jayne prefers to think that they are distress/communication behaviours). She loves this work, particularly when there are breakthrough moments with those who have been deemed ‘hard to reach’ or who have not had clear communication before. Jayne believes in advocating for the individual and doing all she can (with the team involved) to get their true voice heard. She enjoys working in the child or adult’s environment to develop communication systems that work and to support staff to support the individual. Jayne believes that multidisciplinary working, to include parents and staff, is vital-acknowledging that we don’t always have all the answers but so often end up with a plan when we all ponder upon things together. She believes in functional goals led by the person or their representatives.
Jayne really enjoys learning and believes that we can learn new things all of the time – She has learned so much from the voices of those with personal experience and continues to do so. Jayne offers training in many different areas of communication and learning disabilities/autism/ eating and drinking to including strategies and resources that are beneficial. In addition to her own work, she works with colleagues as an associate. Jayne has experience of working with case managers.
